Stormwater Drains New Lambton

Stormwater drains in New Lambton carry roof water and yard run-off away from the house, and we clear them when they back up. Your plumber in New Lambton finds the blockage, clears it, films the line to show the cause, and fixes the price before work starts. Ring (02) 4063 1093 or use the form to book.

Not a sewer. These lines run shallow, collect leaves and silt as well as roots, and carry whatever the weather sends down them.

Why Do Stormwater Drains Block After Rain?

Leaves and garden debris

A leafy suburb sheds plenty into gullies, and a wet autumn fills them faster than a dry one.

Root intrusion

Mature trees push fine roots through any cracked joint, and a shallow stormwater pipe is as easy a target as a sewer.

Silt and soil wash-in

The reactive clay here shifts with the seasons, and run-off washes it straight into shallow pipes.

Shared catchment overload

A heavy Hunter downpour can overload the public system, pushing water back up lines that have no blockage at all.

That last one matters here. New Lambton, Lambton, North Lambton, Kotara and Adamstown all feed one catchment, so one heavy storm can overwhelm the street system while every private line on it is working perfectly. Telling the two apart is the first job.

How We Clear a Stormwater Line

  1. 1

    Find the cause

The CCTV drain camera enters at the nearest gully or access point and shows whether leaves, silt, roots or a surcharged street system is the problem before any clearing starts.

  2. 2

    Clear the line

Water from the jetter blasts the debris loose and pushes it out, or the electric eel cuts a root mat that pressure alone won't shift.

  3. 3

    Check the result

A second camera run confirms the pipe flows and picks up any cracked joint or sag that would cause the same trouble next storm.

  4. 4

    Quote the permanent fix

If the footage shows damage, pipe relining or a replacement length is quoted on its own, and work waits for your go-ahead.

What Decides the Cost of a Stormwater Clear?

It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours).

  • What is actually in the pipe, since a leaf-choked gully clears faster than a root mat
  • Where the blockage is, as a choke near the downpipe is quicker to reach than one deep under paving
  • Whether the camera shows damage that needs a permanent repair on top of the clear
  • Whether you need us after hours, in the middle of a storm

We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.

Two Halves of the Same Suburb

The eastern flats

The low eastern streets are barely above sea level, so when the shared catchment surcharges, their gullies push water back first. The camera shows whether the line is blocked or simply outrun.

The western slopes

Blocks rising toward the high western side shed run-off fast, and the landslip there in 2025, after intense rain, proved how waterlogged ground treats buried pipes. There we check where the water goes before quoting any repair, because a slope that sheds badly fills the same pipe twice.

When We're Not the Right Call

A fault in the street pits or the public stormwater system sits outside your property, so the repair falls to the council or the water authority. You keep our footage to back up the report.

For a closer look inside any drain, a CCTV drain inspection shows the exact cause on screen, and drain jetting handles the stubborn clears. The full drainage range, including sewers and tree root removal, sits on the blocked drains hub.

Stormwater Drain Questions

Why did my gully overflow when the drains in my own yard are clear?

Stormwater from here joins the same catchment as Adamstown, Kotara, Lambton and North Lambton, which means an intense cell can fill the street system faster than it drains and push water back through healthy gullies. A camera check settles it: your blockage or a surcharged system you do not own.

Does the slope on the western side change how stormwater is handled?

It does. The western blocks rise toward roughly 90 metres while the eastern flats are close to sea level, so run-off reaches the bottom fast and finds every weak joint on the way. We assess slope drainage as its own job before quoting.

Can tree roots get into stormwater pipes as well as sewer lines?

Yes. The mature trees that invade the older clay sewers here chase moisture into shallow yard lines too. Fine roots slip through a hairline crack and thicken into a mat that catches leaves and silt, so a line that blocks every wet season usually has an open joint feeding them.

Will clearing a stormwater line mean digging up the garden?

Usually not. Most clears run from an existing gully or access point with the jetter or electric eel. Digging only comes up if the camera shows a collapsed or fractured section, and even then relining can often restore the pipe without a trench.
